About Us
Mission
At WNY Literacy Collaborative, our mission is simple: to help ALL children learn to read.
Research has shown that 95% of children will learn to read with effective reading instruction, yet NAEP scores continue to fall drastically short of that. Why? Effective reading instruction that follows the science of how children learn to read is not shared with educators. We aim to change that.
Our Team: Lori Govenettio and Michelle Hill
We are reading specialists currently working at a public middle school where our role has mainly been as reading interventionists. We are devoted to learning as much as possible about effective reading instruction that follows the science of how children learn to read. Join us as we embark on this journey and share our knowledge along the way!
Lori has previously worked as a grade 3 teacher, K-2 reading specialist, literacy coach, AIS teacher, and intermediate reading specialist. Lori is a certified K-12 Reading Teacher, Childhood Education (Grades 1-6), Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, and Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist.
Michelle has previously worked as a grade 5 teacher, 5-8 AIS teacher, and is currently an intermediate/middle school reading specialist. Michelle holds certification in Literacy (Birth-Grade 6, Grades 5-12), Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2), Childhood Education (Grades 1-6), and Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher.
